Speaking to reporters, the Italian coach said: "I answer easily: my contract with Real Madrid expires on June 30, 2024, so this is the period of time we have to discuss the renewal. If Real Madrid want to negotiate, I won't have any problems. I'm still the coach and that's the most important thing. There's time to think about it, what I want is to win these two games and have a peaceful Christmas."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The former Chelsea boss was initially expected to leave the Spanish giants at the end of his contract. He was tipped to join the Brazil national team as their head coach with Brazilian Football Federation president Ednaldo Rodrigues confirming earlier this year that the Italian will take charge of the Selecao before Copa America 2024.
Several managers like Xabi Alonso, Raul and Roberto De Zerbi have been linked to replace Ancelotti at the end of the season but it now remains to be seen if the club will offer a new contract or look for alternative names.
